As many have already said and written, this year has been like none other. This has been especially true for conferences and exhibitions. Every year, the commercial team at Yourgene look forward to exhibiting at various conferences globally. It’s a chance to meet our partners and customers, as well as form new relationships. With the COVID-19 pandemic none of this was possible, so when we heard that the Taiwan Healthcare Expo was still going ahead, we jumped at the opportunity to attend it with a bang! We had so much we wanted to share! Preparation and planning started a few months before the actual exhibition, to ensure all our efforts were in line with the overall strategic plans.
Closer to the opening of the conference, the marketing team were in constant touch ensuring materials arrived and were printed on time. This year a lot of the coordination had to be done remotely from our Singapore office – another challenge faced down to COVID, even though incident rates are still low in Taiwan. Ordinarily we would have loved to have our broader commercial team and our CEO Lyn Rees visit and attend the event – he loves getting to meet our teams and our customers. But due to the restrictions with the global travel we were sadly unable to make this a truly global event.
Lyn Rees, CEO of Yourgene commented “I am so thrilled to see the success of the Taiwan Health Expo – one of our only events this year. We’ve really missed our conferences and being able to meet our customers and our partners. Business is all about people and building relationships, this is so difficult to do remotely, so it’s fantastic that the team were able to spend time showcasing our new products and services and listening to what our customers want. Really looking forward to being able to travel again and getting over to Taiwan to continue to support the team in building these key partnerships.”

Thanks to our committed team in Taipei and Singapore, the event was a huge success, with a number of highlights. One of the most exciting was probably the Vice-President of Taiwan, Vice President Lai Ching-te visiting the stand and speaking to Dr Bill Chang, Chief Entrepreneur. Bill introduced Yourgene and our expertise in molecular testing as well as servicing the Taiwan Biobank project. Bill was also able to present Yourgene to Former Vice President Chien-jen who thanked the company for its contribution in the biobank project.

Over the course of the exhibition, we had a number of on-booth presentations from key external and internal speakers. We were very excited to have experts in their field including Mr Allen Cheng, from ATGENOMIX, Dr. Chia-Hsiang Chen from Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Dr. Sen-Lin Tang – Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica and Dr. Chi-Cheng Huang from the Taipei Veterans General Hospital share their knowledge with our delegates. They spoke on a range of topics such as: metagenomic sequencing services from our Taipei lab; our range of qPCR products for reproductive health, including Male Factor Infertility, Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Rapid Aneuploidy Analysis; Clarigene: COVID-19 testing solution for low to high throughput laboratories.
We made a special showcase for the Yourgene QS250 and we were lucky enough to have a demonstration kit on display on the booth. This made it a much more interactive conversation with visitors and formed the basis of many discussions. The Yourgene QS250 is a game changer for sample preparation. With three protocols in one bench-based platform it performs gel size selection, fragment analysis and solution-based fluorescence assays. It can be used across multiple platforms from NIPT workflows, cancer detection and cancer disease progression and quality control for NGS workflows.
The team were also able to really showcase the new Naso-pharnygeal carcinoma (NPC) test that we have added to our clinical service for patients in Taiwan. The Take2 Prophecy Test for NPC is the only early cancer screening test for NPC that is validated by a large-scale clinical trial on asymptomatic individuals. It was a great platform for us to speak with clinicians about the benefits of early non-symptomatic screening. Learn more about our nPC test, please click here. As this was one of our only events this year, we had a videographer present and he made a fantastic series of short films for us from around the event. These can be seen here. Taiwan Health Expo 2020 may have been one of the very few exhibitions we were able to go to this year, but it didn’t disappoint. With commitment and teamwork, two core values that we live by at Yourgene, we were able to make this a definite highlight in our calendar. Next year, we’re hoping to see more of our customers and partners face to face, for a full list of conferences we attend, please visit:
